Organized Chaos?

Our life has many moving parts, and tons of to-dos... this is a silly visual remainder to what it takes to keep our house together (school & work are separate), to gently nudge our kids to take on some chores!

back to school art!

Book Nook, Portland, ME

It was a pleasure to create some pro-bono art for the Book Nook!

CHRONOLOGY OF THE "BOOK NOOK"

In July of 2010, the Reiche branch of the Portland Public Library closed due to budget restraints, as did the East End Branch. Following the closure, the idea of a Portable Library and the City of Readers* vision led to the establishment of the Book Nook in the Community Room of Reiche Community Center in 2011.

Since 2012, through a collaboration with the PPL, Portland Parks & Recreation and the West End Neighborhood Association (WENA) the book and magazine sharing shelves, as well as delivery to Reiche of books requested with library cards, have been made available year-round to the residents of the neighborhood. Throughout the year, the Book Nook is staffed in the mornings from 8-10 a.m. by volunteers from WENA. When school is in sessions, it is also open evenings with Rec Dept staff.
